About Bill Snider – a comment by Tim Miller

Tim wrote this comment earlier this week because I found this clue on a page in 2014  which got me scrambling to search for  RAF  238 Squadron…

Bill and his wife, Helen, were good friends of my parents in Gravenhurst. Bill played clarinet in the Muskoka District Band, with my father, Mike Miller, for many years. My father was a bandsman in the 6th Bomber Group (RCAF) in Bomber Command. Mr. Snider related the story about the base that they established, well behind German lines, allowing them to operate in virgin territory far beyond the operational range of their planes, where they weren’t expected! A risky proposition that delivered a healthy reward, one might say!
